Xiaomi has just launched their successor for the last year’s Redmi Note 4 dubbed as Redmi Note 5. The smartphone was launched at an event in New Delhi. It’s their latest offering in the Redmi series and comes with an 18:9 aspect ratio display as mentioned in some of the leaks. The company also said that it made a significant improvement in the camera department.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 sports a 5.99-inch (2160 × 1080 pixels) Full HD+ 18:9 2.5D curved glass display with 450 nits Brightness and Corning Gorilla Glass Protection. It is powered by a 2GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon 625 14nm Mobile Platform with Adreno 506 GPU. It comes with 3/4 GB of RAM and 32/64 GB of internal storage with expandable memory up to 128GB with microSD. It runs on Android 7.1.2 Nougat with MIUI 9 on top.
Speaking about the cameras, it features a 12MP rear camera with f/2.2 aperture, 1.25?m pixel size, PDAF and Dual-tone LED Flash. On the front, it has a 5MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture and soft LED flash for night selfies. It has sensors such as the fingerprint and infrared. Other connectivity options are 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 4.2, GPS + GLONASS. The device comes packed with a 4000mAh non-removable battery.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 will be available in three different colors, Black, Gold, Rose Gold and Lake Blue. The prices are Rs. 9999 for the 3GB RAM with 32GB storage version and the 4GB RAM with 64GB storage variant costs Rs. 11,999. Xiaomi has also said that they are going to include a clear case in the box. The smartphone will be Flipkart exclusive and will also be available from February 22nd at Mi.com and Mi Home retail stores.
