Samsung Galaxy S8 Active with rugged body, 4000mAh battery announced

Samsung has announced their flagships for this year of 2017 as Galaxy S8 and S8+. There is another variant which also comes with flagship grade specs and rugged body or builds which are the Active models. After lot’s of rumors and leaks, it has been announced as Samsung Galaxy S8 Active.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 Active sports a 5.8-inch Quad HD+ (2960 × 1440 pixels) Super AMOLED display with 570ppi and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. It is also powered by the same Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 Mobile Platform with Adreno 540 GPU. S8 Active comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage with expandable memory via MicroSD card.

The device is said to be shock-resistant, shatter-resistant, water-resistant, and dust-resistant which is like a whole package of a rugged phone. Coming to the optics, it features the same camera from the S8, which is a 12MP Dual Pixel rear camera with LED Flash and f/1.7 aperture. And, an 8MP auto focus front-facing camera with f/1.7 aperture. The device runs on Android 7.0 Nougat and has a huge battery of 4000mAh.

It has all the essential sensors such as Accelerometer, Barometer, Fingerprint Sensor, Gyro Sensor, Geomagnetic Sensor, Hall Sensor, Heart Rate Sensor, Proximity Sensor, RGB Light Sensor, Iris Sensor, Pressure Sensor. The Samsung S8 Active will arrive in Meteor Gray and Titanium Gold colors from August 11th in the US by AT&T. The price is quoted as $850 and there is no information of Indian release as there were no Active series released here.
