OnePlus 5 OxygenOS 5.0 Android 8.0 Oreo stable update with Face Unlock coming soon

OnePlus has been very generous with their latest software updates for the OnePlus 5 smartphone. They recently started rolling out  Android 8.0 (Oreo) open beta update for the OnePlus 5 which was a month ago. Now, OnePlus has started giving out the stable Android Oreo update for the users as a Christmas Gift before the expected date which was said to be in 2018.

The OnePlus Co-founder, Carl Pei has also tweeted the users wishing for Christmas and announced that the OnePlus 5 will get OnePlus 5T’s Face Unlock feature soon due to popular demand from fans. It was first seen in the Beta updates and many users have liked it. But, due to unknown reasons, they have removed it.

The latest updates bring a lot of software features such as upgraded Android 8.0 Oreo with its features like background limits that put a big priority on improving user’s battery life, snoozing that lets users to snooze notifications to reappear at a later time and wide-gamut color for apps among many other things.  The other features of Oxygen OS that are going to get updated are Updated to Android O (8.0).

The overall size of the OnePlus 5 Oreo Update is of 1.58GB which also includes Android security update for December. The OTA updates will be first rolled out to a patch of users in the start and gets increased in numbers with coming days. You can also manually update your OnePlus 5 by downloading the file from their website. OnePlus 5T is awaited to get the Android 8.0 Oreo updates.
