Xiaomi has finally launched its selfie-centric smartphone Redmi Y2 along with the Buzzword ‘AI Selfie.’ Just for the fact it is the rebranded Redmi S2, which was launched in China last month.
The Redmi Y2 sports a 5.99-inch HD+ (1440 x 720 pixels) display, with an 18:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by the Snapdragon 625 SoC coupled with an Adreno 506 GPU. The smartphone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box with MIUI 9.5 ROM on top. It is a dual sim device with a 4G VoLTE support on a single sim and it also has a dedicated microSD card slot to expand storage.
In terms of camera, the Redmi Y2 comes with a dual 12MP + 5MP camera setup on the rear with f/2.0 aperture. This is the exact camera setup which we have already seen in Redmi Note 5 Pro. On the front, the device has a single 16-megapixel camera which is also capable of taking AI-powered portraits. The smartphone is backed up by a 3,080 mAh battery and comes in Rose Gold, Champagne Gold and Platinum Silver colours.
The base variant of Redmi Y2 with 3GB RAM + 32GB Storage is priced at Rs 9,999 whereas the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage variant are priced at Rs. 12,999.
