Xiaomi Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus with 18:9 displays revealed ahead of launch event

Xiaomi’s budget range series, Redmi smartphones official images were revealed by the company itself. The Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus are the smartphones shown off in the images which give us a glance of their new 18:9 displays and design. The launch event was said to happen on December 7th but the company has released the official looks of the smartphones and they look stunning.

As per the details by TENAA certification, Xiaomi Redmi 5 sports a 5.7-inch (1440 × 720 pixels) HD+ 18:9 aspect ratio with 2.5D curved glass display. The device is powered by 1.8GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon 450 14nm Mobile Platform with Adreno 506 GPU. It comes with 2/3/4GB of RAM and 16/32/64GB of internal storage with expandable memory up to 128GB with a microSD card.

The Redmi 5 runs on Android 7.1.2 Nougat with MIUI 9 on top. It features a 12MP rear camera with LED Flash and a front-facing 5MP sensor with LED Flash. The fingerprint sensor is placed on the back same as the predecessor. Other essentials features are 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 4.2, GPS + GLONASS. It boasts a 3200mAh battery.

Although its rumoured specifications, we should wait until the launch event for price details and availability. In the photos, the device is shown with a full display i.e., an 18:9 display which is a trend now.
