Xiaomi launched the Redmi 5 smartphone in India which is already launched in China in December last year. It is the successor of the Redmi 4 which launched last year. The smartphone will come with 5.7″ display with 18:9 aspect ratio.
The smartphone will come with a 5.7-inch display with HD+ (1440 X 720p) resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. It is the most affordable from Xiaomi to come with 18:9displayy. The Redmi 5 is powered by Snapdragon 450 coupled with 2GB/3GB/4GB RAM and available in three storage variants 16GB, 32GB & 64GB. It is a dual sim device with hybrid sim card slot.
The Redmi 5 comes with a 12MP camera on the rear with f/2.2 aperture and a 5MP snapper on the front for the selfies. The smartphone also has a flashlight for both front and rear cameras. The smartphone is backed up by a 3,300mAh battery which is smaller than the 4,000mAh battery found on Redmi 4. It runs on MIUI 9 which is based on Android 7.1 Nouga (no Android Oreo out of the box).
The Redmi will be available in Black, Gold, Rose Gold, and Lake Blue color options. The price of 2GB and 16GB storage version is Rs. 7999 whereas the 3GB RAM and 32GB storage version cost Rs. 8,999 and the 4GB RAM with 64GB storage are priced at Rs. 10,999. Redmi 5 will be available exclusively from Amazon.in, Mi.com and Mi Home Stores and the first flash sale will start on March 20th.
