Well, the looks like the last week were dominated by a lot of Samsung Galaxy S8 coverage and reviews. And let’s stop for a while and calm down now. It’s time to talk about the LG G6 for now.
After the modular failure of the G5, LG’s mobile division needed a bit of a hero here to put a cloth on their failure of the G5 and that’s why they rushed in to bring in the LG G6 as soon as possible. And to be honest, they did succeed in covering up the G5’s failure. The G6 is a phone which is made for all intents and purposes. A conventional flagship which offers a good all-around experience rather than relying on gimmicks like its predecessor. And thus, the LG G6 has already got a positive response from the tech media which makes a positive impact on the company itself.
But is it going to impact its competitors? I would say it’s like a hit or a miss. The Galaxy S8 is certainly a flashier device, and, being the G6’s main competitor on the market. And it has the potential to spell trouble for LG in future in terms of sales. And I don’t see that there’ll be any trouble for Galaxy S8 but it might impact the sales for other competitors like HTC U Ultra and the Pixel XL. Because those devices have their own standout features but LG G6 was released later than those and does have the ability to compile the most of the standout features from those flagships. More importantly, the price tag is way less compared to the Google’s Pixel XL or the HTC’s U Ultra.
Let’s discuss how LG is trying to put on the marketing strategy for the LG G6. For a smartphone to be easily recognizable in an already oversaturated market. It needs a good marketing campaign that can differentiate it from its competitors. And when it comes to the LG’s advertising the G6, they just couldn’t get it done right. They have got a better competitor in the market already and things look like LG forgot that point. Take some time to watch this commercial of the LG G6.
Well, wasn’t it boring? LG released this commercial right a day before the launch event of the Galaxy S8 and they just wasted their opportunity completely here. Now take a look at the Samsung’s Galaxy S8 commercial.
Now tell me which attracts you more? Obviously, it would be the Samsung Galaxy S8. It’s all known that Samsung plans to go all-out when it comes to marketing its newest flagship and they do it right. And if LG can’t come up with a better marketing strategy, they might lose this war against the Galaxy S8 and fall behind just like the LG G5 fell behind.
