Samsung Galaxy S10 might ditch iris scanner in favor of 3D face-scanning

Samsung Galaxy S9 has been out for more than 3 months and we are still waiting for the launch of the Galaxy Note9. But rumour mill for Samsung Galaxy S9 is already up and we are getting freshly rumours of next year’s Samsung flagship. Latest rumours are hitting towards the removal of the Iris scanner on the Galaxy S10.

A report from The Bell suggests that the Samsung will introduce the in-display fingerprint reader in the Galaxy S10. Not only that Samsung is also planning to implement the 3D face-scanning module which will be similar to the iPhone X’s Face id. Samsung has been working with the Israeli firm Mantis to develop their own solution of 3D facial recognization. Samsung is planning to replace the iris scanner with the 3D face-scanning module so we might not see iris scanning in upcoming Samsung phones.

Samsung’s decision of introducing the 3D face-scanning could be wise as the iris scanning is slow. The  3D face-scanning module will also help Samsung in dramatically improving its AR Emoji feature in the S10. According to the reports, the Galaxy S10 will come in two variants one with 5.8″ screen which will be called as Samsung Galaxy S10 and the other one with 6.3? screen named as Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus.
