Samsung has launched the Galaxy Folder 2 flip phone in South Korea, it is the successor to its Galaxy Folder series first launched in 2013. This phone was made official back in September last year and has been only available in China. Now it arrives in its home country.
The device is priced at 297,000 won which roughly translates to about Rs. 17,000 which is equivalent to $260.It is available in 2 variants. The Galaxy Folder 2 is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 425 SoC, features a 3.8-inch WVGA display and sports 2GB RAM and 16GB internal memory that expands up to 256GB via micro sd card. It features a 1950 mAh battery that is rated at 318 hours of standby it measures 122 x 60.2 x 15.4mm and weighs 160 grams.
The Galaxy Folder 2 runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box. The 96.6mm display for easy viewing of texts, pictures, and videos, and has a larger keyboard than its predecessor to ensure fewer typos. It comes with 8 MP rear camera and has 5 MP selfie camera. The device has a 3.8-inch display with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels which sounds not so impressive. It also has separate physical buttons to load up contacts, texts, and camera features.
A new device codenamed as SM-G1600 which is supposed to be the LTE version of Galaxy Folder 2 and most likely to offer dual SIM support. As of now, it is only available in China and South Korea. And we have to see how well it perform in the South Korean market with old flip phone style form factor. As of now, there is no date on the global announcement but we will be updating you as soon as we have the information.
