Red Hydrogen One Prototype hands on by MKBHD

Red is a renowned brand in the name of high-end cameras but last month they are working on a $1,200 smartphone named Hydrogen One. But at that time there is not much detail about the smartphone. Now the prototype of Hydrogen One is shown in a YouTube video by famous tech YouTuber Marques Brownlee.

In the video, he shows the non-functional prototype of the phone. This gives the very good idea of how the device actually looks. He talked about three prototypes one is “fit and finish” model showcasing the final design but don’t have any internal components,  another one is the working model with a holographic display but it was not shown off in the video (but MKBHD says it is impressive)and the third one is the camera module with sensors and lens.

Red Hydrogen One features the holographic display which has a technology that seamlessly switches between traditional 2D content, holographic multi-view content, 3D content and interactive games.  The smartphone will feature a 5.5-inch display and the dedicated camera shutter button. This device is using Kevlar fabric and a rugged design that should be able to take a few bumps here and there.

Red Hydrogen One packs dual rear cameras and also the modular capabilities just like Moto Mods. But as the video doesn’t show the working model and these are just early prototypes. But according to Marques Brownlee that the company plans to have a working prototype ready within the next 45 days. So may be next year we will the Red Hydrogen One Smartphone and see how its holographic display looks in real life. The device starts at $1,195 (Aluminum variant) and $1,595 (Titanium variant). It is expected to ship in Q1 of 2018.
