Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 mobile platform features and other details

Qualcomm has announced their flagship Snapdragon 845 mobile platform for the year 2018. The Snapdragon 835 mobile platform was used in almost every flagship smartphone released this year and served as the best ever performing processor in the mobile industry. The chipset was announced at an event in Snapdragon Tech Summit held in Maui. Let’s check out the other improvements they made to the successor of Snapdragon 835.

The Snapdragon high-end processors are widely used in flagship smartphones of the companies like Samsung, Google, HTC, Xiaomi, and LG and other well-known brands which are appreciated by both the consumers and reviewers. Now, the Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform is going to use in laptops and notebooks for better multitasking and battery performances at which they excel in every aspect. Not only laptops, as well as the VR headsets, are expected to take advantage of this flagship chipset as it is also capable of high graphic visuals.

It’s just wrong to call this powerhouse as only one processor, as it features multiple chipsets in it such as ISP or the image signal processor and a DSP which is the digital signal processor for handling videos better. In the newest flagship chipset, you can also find an all-new SPU or the secure processing unit which is also a part of the chipset whose only job is to secure the vital information in your device including the fingerprints, iris and mobile payment data.

The new chipset also has an upgrade in the 4K HDR support where the system features an image signal processor that is capable of capturing 4K HDR video content at up to 60 frames per second. It is nothing but you can now capture the content with high dynamic range and it results in more vibrant colors and a better contrast. The Snapdragon 845 is also capable of capturing slow-motion videos for up to 480 FPS at 720p HD or up to 240FPS at 1080p FullHD.

The other mentionable things are Snapdragon 845 can perform better than the predecessor by more than 25% to 30% which is a great improvement. It also conveys us that the Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) will also get improved to a 30% from the Snapdragon 835. Coming to the connectivity, the Snapdragon 845 can now go up to 1.2 Gbs of speed and supports 5G. The Snapdragon 845 chipsets are expected to come in the next year with Samsung’s upcoming flagship S9.
