Now, more than ever, Qualcomm is visible to all. The number of top models that use the Snapdragon 810 has increased significantly recently (including these three new models of Sony Xperia Z5 presented at IFA). Other producers, however, are apparently waiting for the Snapdragon 820 is officially released.
The SoC Snapdragon 820 is constituted by a CPU Kryo 64-bit proprietary Qualcomm. the CPU Kryo is built using a 14nm FinFET process and is able to handle a clock up to 2.2 GHz. According to Qualcomm, the new CPU will offer twice the efficiency, performance and power of the Snapdragon 810
Another important feature of this new SoC is the Symphony System Manager, a mechanism perhaps at the kernel level which will optimize the SoC to complete a workload in the shortest time possible and in the most efficient from the energy point of view.
The direct competitor of the Snapdragon 820 will certainly be the new chip A9 Apple, the line processor Exynos Samsung, the Hisilicon Huawei, and processor MediaTek Helio X20. The latter is particularly interesting with its CPU Tri-Cluster CPU.
The Helio X20 has two core ARM Cortex-A72 for more intensive tasks of feeding and two groups of four core ARM Cortex-A53. One is clocked at 2GHz for tasks that require power. The other group runs at a clock of 1.4 GHz to less heavy tasks.
Speaking of performance, recently it appeared on the network a screenshot of the app AnTuTu note on the new Snapdragon 820. It appears that a device called Green Orange X1 Pro, upright this SoC, has registered a score of no less than 83,744.
This score might result from the fact that the device in question is equipped with a display with a resolution of 1080 x 1920p. According to the latest rumors, it seems that the first top of the range to fit the new Snapdragon 820 will be the Xiaomi MI5, which should be presented in March.
But what do you think of this new processor? Finally solve the problems of overheating of the Snapdragon 810? Let us know in the comments.
