Qualcomm has announced Snapdragon 636 Mobile Platform which is the successor to Snapdragon 630. They have announced this Chipset at an event 4G/5G Summit. The Mobile Platform is advanced by 14nm technology and uses eight Kryo 260 CPUs instead of A53 CPUs in the Snapdragon 630 that promises 40% bump in performance. The Chipset also supports Full HD+ resolution displays and has improved Adaptive Brightness.
For the GPU, it uses an Adreno 509 GPU with Qualcomm TruPalette and Qualcomm EcoPix features are integrated into the Adreno Visual Processing Subsystem to support superior viewing experiences. The upgrade can bring up to 10% improvement in Graphics. The sound output also has been improved by Qualcomm Aqstic audio codec which has Hi-Fi audio on the go, with up to 192kHz/24bit support lossless audio playback.
The other improvements are in the camera section, where it can support up to 24 MP single camera and up to 16 MP dual camera. The video recording capabilities have also been improved with which videos can get 4K capture at 30fps with Hardware HEVC (H.265) encode and decode. This is achieved by the help of Qualcomm Spectra 160 ISP.
The Snapdragon 636 Mobile Platform also supports Quick Charge 4.0 for faster-charging speeds. The chipset will be available for consumers by November 2017.
