Meizu reveals PRO 6 with 21MP camera, 10-LED flash And 3D Touch

Chinese mobile device manufacturer Meizu has today launched the PRO 6 to be sold alongside the PRO 5which was only launched in September last year. With a 21MP 1/2.4-inch sensor and F2.2 aperture, the main camera specifications have remained the same but there is one notable change on the new model: the dual-tone flash is now made from 10 LEDs that are arranged in a circular pattern on the back plate. The diameter of the circle is too small for the lights to have a ring-flash effect but we would assume that the output power is at least higher than that of more conventional LED-flashes. As with the PRO 5, both phase detection AF and laser assistance for measuring of subject-distance are on board. The front module uses a 5MP sensor with a relatively large pixel size of 1.4 µm and F2.0 aperture.

In a slightly surprising move, Meizu has reduced the display size on the PRO 6. The new model comes with a relatively modest 5.2-inch 1080p Super AMOLED display compared to the PRO 5’s 5.7-inch screen. However, the loss in size is augmented by the new 3D Press feature, Meizu’s equivalent to Apple’s 3D Touch pressure sensitive display technology.

The Android operating system is powered by a MediaTek Helio X25 chipset and 4GB RAM. The 2,560mAh battery supports mCharge 3.0 quick charging. The Meizu PRO 6 will be available in China from April 23 at approximately Rs. 25,000 for the 32GB version and Rs. 30,000 for the 64GB variant. No information on availability in other regions has been released yet.
