Google’s Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL with Snapdragon 835 announced starting at $649

Google has announced the most awaited flagship smartphones of this year, the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL at their #madebygoogle event in San Fransisco. These smartphones are going to be the successors for the last year’s ‘Pixel’ series smartphones. The camera of the Pixel smartphones was praised a lot in the reviews and this time also they have got a DXO Mark of “98”, which is the highest ever given by them for a smartphone camera.

Both the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL comes with an Aluminum unibody with glass on top which has a hybrid coating and has Active Edge for a quick squeeze to launch Google Assistant. It was already used on HTC U11 and is serving now as a Hotkey for the Assistant. Google also said that it can also take Portrait Mode pictures with which the images get a background blurs, from both the front and back camera and has new motion photos mode that captures a few seconds of video around the shot.

The 2nd Generation Pixel smartphones now have Water and Dust Resistant (IP67) as many flagship smartphone contenders are doing the same. Both of them support the latest Android 8.0 Oreo, out of the box. They no longer support 3.5mm Headphone jack as they removed it (?). The cameras they come with are a 12.2MP rear camera with a f/1.8 aperture, LED flash and has support for both OIS and EIS at the same time. On the front, there is an 8MP sensor for selfies which has a f/2.4 aperture.

The Google Pixel 2 hasn’t changed much which comes with a 5-inches HD OLED 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection display. It is powered by a Snapdragon 835 SoC with Adreno 540 GPU. It has a 4GB of RAM and 64GB / 128GB storage with expandable memory up to 256GB. It comes in Kinda Blue, Just Black, and Clearly White colors and will be for sale at a price tag of $649 (Rs. 42205 approx.) for 64GB variant and $749 (Rs. 48707 approx.) for 128GB variant.

The Pixel 2 XL has a 6-inches Full HD display with 3D Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection and has 18:9 aspect ratio which makes the display a bit taller and edge-to-edge to the side bezels. It is also powered by a Snapdragon 835 Mobile Platform with Adreno 540 GPU. Coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB / 128GB internal storage with expandable memory up to 256GB. It will be available in Just Black and Black & White colors and can be grabbed at a price point of $849 (Rs. 55,230 approx.) for the 64GB version and $949 (Rs. 61,755 approx.) for the 128GB version.
