Google officially announced Android 8.0 Oreo

 

On the day of solar eclipse, Google officially gave the name to its latest Android version 8.0 and it is officially called  Oreo. But that does not mean that your device will get updated soon. It means the pixel devices enrolled in Android beta program will get the first beta update of Android Oreo. And after few months the Nexus devices 6P  and 5x and all the pixel devices will get the update when the official version is ready. After the release official, Android Oreo OEMs will slowly start giving the update to their smartphones.

Now let’s talk about some features and update which Android O bring to the table. Most of the improvements are behind the scene like background limits for apps to improve battery life, Bluetooth audio improvements, Google Play Protect to help on the security front and other important features to the core system of Android. Android Oreo will boot your device faster (up to twice as fast on the Pixel) also provide better battery backup. Android Oreo also has better Autofill implementation and support for Android Instant Apps.

On the front Android Oreo introduces over 60 new emoji, a new look for media notifications, some minor changes in the icons. Also, it provides many customization options like customization of icons design like a square, circle and other shapes of icons can be controlled via settings. Most of the settings are merged and renamed for simplicity. Android Oreo also brings New features likes adaptive notification dots, wider support for picture-in-picture mode,  quick settings menu, redesigned settings menu, adaptive icons, notification channels. But still, it looks very much like Android Nougat with some minor UI changes here and there. You can see new color scheme with some lighter color in UI but still, it has noticeable changes. And finally it the Android Oreo introduces the new Octopus Easter egg.

Google is working closely with its hardware partners including Huawei, HTC, Essential, General Mobile, HMD Global, Kyocera, LG, Motorola, Samsung, Sharp, and Sony, all are planning to launch the new devices with Android Oreo preloaded also scheduled to upgrade devices to Android 8.0 Oreo.
