Google is investigating Pixel 2 XL screen burn-in issue

Pixel 2 XL is the new flagship smartphone from Google. And the people are reporting issues with Pixel 2 XL muddy color and grainy textures when viewed in low-light, but there is also significant and severe issue screen burn-in. This issue is first reported by Android Central’s Alex Dobie on Twitter, and many people even confirmed the same problem. To check this issue use grey background and you can see faint outlines of the onscreen navigation buttons on the bottom.

Screen burn-in isn’t an uncommon issue, we have seen the similar problem with the Moto G4 Plus. But here the big thing to worry is that this point pops within a week. It’s also possible that it can be a “ghosting” where an image is retained on display. This thing is not permanent goes away with time but burn-in of the screen may not.

The official statement from Google is

“The Pixel 2 XL screen has been designed with an advanced POLED technology, including QHD+ resolution, wide color gamut, and high contrast ratio for natural and beautiful colors and renderings. We put all of our products through extensive quality testing before launch and in the manufacturing of every unit. We are actively investigating this report.”

Google is now actively investigating the issue and the issue is not common OLED screens tend to exhibit burn-in over time. But the time span of burn-in is quite long months or years.
