Corning has announced the successor of last year’s Gorilla Glass 4. The Upgraded Gorilla Glass 5 offers 2X more damage resistance over Glass 4. Corning is probably the leading brand when it comes to Material Science.
According to the recent study, 85% of mobile phone owner’s have dropped their devices at least once in a year and 55% of users drop three times or more. Every generation of Gorilla Glass provides a unique feature and this time it offers far more resistance against accidental drops.
Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on rough surfaces survives up to 80% of the times when dropped face down from 1.6 metres compared to 1 metre in Glass 4. Most of the people have dropped their phones from shoulder and waist, So Corning has improved the drop performance to the next level.
